The “Women Creators” NGO from Ulcinj was founded in 2004, when the then president, Mrs Marija Skrelja, gathered women from Ulcinj who were engaged in handicrafts. The first time she presented their work was at an exhibition organized at the “Mirko Srzentic” library. Since then, we have participated in numerous fairs and exhibitions organized in the country and abroad while, at the same time, representing the town of Ulcinj’s culture, customs and rare crafts to keep them from oblivion.
Striving for continuous improvement and cultivating personal expression, we attended many professional creative workshops to master various techniques, combining them to develop our own style and unique ways of expression. Painting, crocheting, knitting, weaving, macramé, wood painting and decoupage are just a few of the many techniques we use.
We aim to present our crafts creatively, so as to give visitors the opportunity to observe the handicrafts techniques, and to allow them to practice and create their own souvenirs. Through various workshops, teamwork, traveling and trips to nature, we strive to convey the pleasure of engaging in creative work.
About us
We also go a step further, and provide answers to many questions that are important to modern women by organizing guests lectures on various topics, such as education, health care, healthy lifestyle. During our free time and socializing, we organize literary evenings and recommend good books to read.
The work of our NGO is recognized by the Municipality of Ulcinj, Tourist Organization of Ulcinj, Center for the Protection of Birds of Montenegro, MSJE Martin Schneider, CAR Capital and R&R Medical, which provide financial support for the implementation of our projects.
The RTCG, TV Teuta and TV Vijesti regularly broadcast our work.
